So: Dragons. I would prefer no animal abuse/cruelty, but considering the prompt, I can see how it could be made to work. If you think that's the best approach - humans have coerced/forced them into their present function - then go for it, but otherwise (if it's possible) I'd prefer to see something that suggests either humane treatment or interspecies cooperation.
Marriage. This is deliberately broad in nature. You can take this from the beginning of their relationship clear through to the wedding vows, from the wedding vows on after, or however you'd like to deal with it. It can be fluff, angst, crack (though I favor this option less), however. Just write me a romance! Also, I am a sap for fluff and cuddling. I will say, as far as potential sex scenes are concerned, that I'm likely to skip over it - I'll get caught up in the story and read more for the plot than the porn. I tend to prefer R-mild NC-17 ratings - PG-13 would be great, too. Which is not to say I won't go back and read it and appreciate it, but it's not the first thing I'll look for.

-Characters who are able to function individually, not utterly dependent on another to survive/define themselves
-Characters who know each other, how they’d react to a situation, understand infinitesimal body language
-Falling in love with characters as they fall in love with each other
-Established couples encountering a difficulty and struggling through (preferably together) to a resolution
-Kids
-Creativity
-World-building
-Things that make sense

-Infidelity
-Established relationships (see exception above)
-Dark and/or horror
-Child abuse
-Melodramatic angst
-Hard NC-17 (I'd like some plot with my pron, please)
-Animal cruelty for the pure sake of it (see exception in Dragons)
